Search Engines

Search Engines

Postby Alex on 10 11 2011 23:42

I reached the point where I don't want to use google anymore and looked into alternatives.

My focus is on good search results (doh) and less evil in privacy (yes I am looking at you google).

I'm trying https://duckduckgo.com - search results are ok but sometimes I switch to google if I am searching something very specific. I like their stance on privacy and that they offer links to other search engines, especially when results are sparse.

Since today I'm looking into http://ask.com and maybe comment on it after some time.

Which search engines do you use - any recommendations or experiences to share?

There is still excite.com

Also, I googled "alternative search engines to google" and found this:

I tried a few others but think I'll stay with https://duckduckgo.com for a while.

I really like their stance on privacy, the main reason for me ditching google.

I'm now trying startpage - kind of privacy frontend for google. Results are better (mostly from google) and image search is possible.
