Opensource, easy to use, hoch perfomant - bin ziemlich beeindruckt davon

Host System: your PC running Virtual Box
Guest System: the PC emulated via Virtual Box
Audio
At the time of writing HP machines seem to have a problem here (Virtual Box v. 3.0.12 - 3.1.4). If your Host System crashes a lot, try turning off the Audio devices in the Settings Menu for the Guest System.
Guest Applications
Once the OS is installed, the VM Guest Applications can be installed.
Devices --> Install Guest Additions... (or <Host> + <D>)
These make working with multiple VMs easier.
If your Guest System is a Core Server or similar OS without Graphical User Interface, you need to change to your CD drive (by default this usually is D:\) and install the Guest Applications from there.
Network Access
If you want to access the internet via your Guest System, you need to change the Network settings to Bridged Adapter or NAT.
Bridged Adapter: Host & Guest System can communicate with eachother.
NAT: Host System acts as a Proxy.
Snapshot
Once the OS is up and running, a snapshot can be taken.
Machine --> Take Snapshot... (or <Host> + <S>)
If something unwanted happens it is easy to return to the system state at the time of the snapshot.
