Note: Content will be updated in irregular intervals.
Nota Bene: I take no responsibility for any damage done to your system. Please proceed with care.

The menu is very similar to the PSP. Left and right scrolls through the different options and up and down scrolls through the sub-menus.
System updates, if required by a game, are included on the Blu-rayDisk of the game - just like DirectX under Windows.
Games start in the same language as the one used for the PS3 system and menus. Hence, if English is the selected language of the system, games will automatically start in english (see also >German only games< below).

Backwards Compatibility for PS1 Games:
This should work quite well. All you need to do is create an internal Memory Card:
Game --> Memory Card Utility (PS/PS2) --> Create New Internal Memory Card
If you didn't do this prior to launching a PS1 game, you will be taken to this option once the game tries to write something on a Memory Card for the first time.

The following PS1 games should work on the PS3:
- Akuji the Heartless
- Diablo
- Silent Hill
- Spyro the Dragon

The following PS1 games did not work on the PS3:
- Wipeout

Backwards Compatibility for PS2 Games:
Only some PS3 models are able to run PS2 games. Please consult the following links for more information:

Changing the internal hard drive of the PS3 and backing up the data of the old drive:
- 2.5 Inch SATA HD with no more than 5400 RPM (as new HD)
- external USB HD formatted with FAT32 (for saving a backup of the data of the old HD)

Step 1: Backup your data
1) Connect an external USB HD to one of the USB ports. The HD must be formatted with FAT 32 (or the PS3 will not be able to use it) and large enough to store all of your data.
2) Go to:
Settings --> System Settings --> Backup Utility --> Back up
to save your PS3 data on the external USB HD.

Step 2: exchange the HD of the PS3
There should be step-by-step instructions in the PS3 manual.
The PS3 HD is on the left side, the PS3 slim HD is below the Blu-ray Disc Drive.

Step 3: Restore your data
This works as Step 1 above, but with selecting >Restore< from the Backup Utility.
